Scuppered by the benefits cap

Dear all,

The new benefits cap will be implemented in November.

The limit is around £258 per week for a single person with no children (around £13,400 a year).

I currently get around £160 in Housing Benefit and £100 in ESA per week (WRAG). I'm not sure if council tax benefit comes into the equation as I still have to contribute to that.

My landlord has said he will be putting the rent up too fairly soon.

Looks like I'm scuppered.

Any input would be sincerely appreciated.

I don't think it's fair that there is a set cap when some areas have cheaper rent rates than others.

That's for sure.

There is a slight rise in the cap for London but if you live just outside London you are up the creek without a paddle.
