    mirtazapine v quetiapine

Has anyone tried both? which was more sedating?
I am due to start mirt today but scared about the sedating effects. I have tried quetiapine before and found that just knocked me out

I doubt mirtazipine will 'knock you out' but will hopefully give you good sleep.

I'd say just go ahead and give it a go since it's the weekend?

    Re: mirtazapine v quetiapine

I was really really scared to take Mirtazapine. I did and I am fine. The first night I took it, I was sleepy the next morning until about 10am. Everyday after that I was up at normal time to start work. I have got up to kids before in the middle of the night and I was fine. I only have taken Quetiapine twice...I didn't like it. Quetiapine I think gives more of a drugged, out of it kind of feeling, where as Mirtazapine gives you a sleepy feeling, but still with it. That has been my experience anyhow. Others may be different. I have been taking Mirtazapine for about a month I think. The sleepy feeling in the morning definately fades away after you have been taking it for about a week. If you need to be up for work or to go somewhere, just get up and out of bed and moving about an hour before you need to go and the sleepy feeling goes. If you lay in bed, you will just be sleepy and probably fall back to sleep. Don't be afraid. You will just fall into a restful sleep. Tracy x

Mirtazapine is noted as an easy start-up med, but as with anything you have to conquer your fear and give it a try.
