Spotting

Hello all, for the past two days i've experienced spotting between my periods. I'm 21, and have never had this happen before. The first day, it was brown, suggesting old blood, but today it is bright red. It isn't a lot of bleeding, and i am currently ovulating. I just had a pap smear a few weeks ago and everything came back normal. Could this be ovulation spotting? Has anyone else had this happen to them? My mind is going to the worst possible conclusion because i have had ovarian cysts in the past, so my mind is thinking ovarian cancer. :(

There could be loads of reasons you're spotting - have you changed your pill recently? Are you stressed? I would wait another month, keep a diary of you symptoms or spotting, then go to the docs xx

A lot of times it just happens for no real reason - hormones, stress, being on the birth control pill. Most of the time the advice tends to be see if it happens during the next few cycles or if your cycle straightens out.

Being on the BC Pill is known to be a very common cause of spotting.

Thank you for the replies! I'm not on birth control, and I have been extremely stressed lately, so hopefully that is what caused the minor spotting.
