    Hypertension-Panic

I've been measuring my blood pressure because it was high. For three days
    i had the values

    day 1: 140x80
    day 2: 150x100
    day 3: 130x90

Sometimes, when i'm in home, it gets 120x100, 140x90, 140x10...
I went to the doctor and he said, just with my 3 first values, he said that
i'm gonna need to take the pills for all my life, because I have cronic hypetension... I asked some nurses and
they said that I am not hypertensive yet, but pre-hypertensive. Changing my lifestyle could help me control my blood presure without any pills.

I am in panic right now. I don't wanna take these pills forever, you know?
Is the doctor right concluding that? By the way, he is not a cardiologist, the is a kind of general clinic.
    I can't eat, I am not sleeping...

    Can you guys help me?

    Thanks....

Well in my opinion you should ask a specialist doctor that its cardiologist and not a general doctor clinis .Go yourself and speak with a doctor that its very good specialized in this things

Hi! I think that stress can increase your chance of having high blood pressure, so panicking about having to take pills is probably not doing yourself or your blood pressure any good. It probably isn't best to seek medical opinions on here regarding medication, as we are not doctors, although some others may be able to give you advice from person experience. At the end of the day, if you need to take medication to control blood pressure, it isn't the end of the world. Try making the changes in lifestyle first and see if it helps, if not return to your doctor, or maybe get a second opinion from another doctor.

    Anxiety
doesn't cause long-term high blood pressure (hypertension). But episodes of anxiety can cause dramatic, temporary spikes in your blood pressure.

Maybe trying some deep breathing exercises or meditation may help to reduce your panic.

    Hi
Mermaid has given very good advice, try and do the best you can to reduce it yourself and if not successful the pills will help you not harm you.
    Hypertension is very treatable.
    Take care.

Hi , I also have high blood pressure I'm over weight and constantly stressed which doesn't help , my blood pressure is higher at the docs because I'm stressed when I go in , if you have a home tester try laying done and doing some deep breathing exercises before you take it , it may be lower and give a better true reading just thinking about taking it makes it go up , you need to be relaxed to get a better idea , hope this is of some help , take care .

Good advice above - an active lifestyle, not overweight, no smoking and limit alcohol - these are all ways of preventing hypertension (and being generally healthy as well).

...and of course a healthy lifestyle can help anxiety! Sometimes it can feel difficult to make positive changes in lifestyle, but it really is worth it.

    Hey Guys.

I've been doing some research, and I found out that losing weight can actually lower the blood presure by itself. Doing some exercise 3 times a week (all that I have time for), almost no salt and basically eating fruits, rice... I already lost like 6 kg (13 ponds) in like 2 weeks. My blood pressure reached 13x9 today, 12x10 a few days ago, but I'm not sure if its the pills that are lowering it. I mean, seems like the pills are not making any effect, because I've been get values like this before I start tooking them, 15 days ago.
The only difference is that I'm trying to get calm when I do my BP measures. By the way, every time i got values above 140, I was actually nervous. Even after days taking the pills, my BP started getting even higher (15x9,15x10 and so)!

Like I said the nurses told me that these are a pre-hypertensive values, meaning that I'm not hypertensive yet (14x8 was the first measure), but I am worried because the doctor said that I already was, you know? That just doesn't make any sense!

Your doing the right things, so I think you well be ok. Being anxious only temporary raises your blood pressure that may be why your readings were high.

Hi. I'm here to say some News about my treatment. Aftet almost 3 months taking losartan and losing weight, my bp is now 130x80… but there are two questiona about some things that happened a few days ago.

1: 2 days ago, I went to the same doctor (I am still looking for a Good doctor). My bp was 130x80, and I am getting this value without or without the meds. I didn't had my pills that morning, so I got this value without the pills. Can I understand that I am not actually Hypertensive and I'm overreacting?

2: The doctor, even with the bp not so high (as far as I know, this measure is considered normal), Said that I would need to take two pills instead of one. This Just don't make any sense. I am afraid to follow the doctor's orientation. What do you guys think?

    Thanks in advance.
