    Residential therapy for Ag. Anyone?

I recently watched an episode of Teen Mom and noticed that Americans seem to use residential therapy for anxiety and agoraphobia.
I found a place online that offers this here in the UK, I doubt it's available on the NHS but I wondered if anyone had tried it and had success with it?

If it's what I think it is, I wouldn't waste your money. Plenty of people get wealthy at the expense of others - and residential care (or relieving you of your bank account) isn't necessary for agoraphobia and anxiety. Inform yourself. Read up on exactly what these things are, how the brain is tricked and how they are simply adrenaline released at the wrong time. You can formulate a plan to start dealing with it then. It's tough but it's absolutely possible to get rid of the panics. Info first though x

Yeah, been struggling with it for 5 yrs now, read a ton of stuff...claire weekes etc understand the psychology and biology of it but not getting any better.

It's a course at the Priory, am currently looking into it but I don't rush into anything..was wondering if anyone else has been down that route.

Sorry, don't want to detract from why you posted, but I'm curious to see what you've been doing to move forward past the phobia? I had it for many years longer than you, so don't give up.
I hope you get a response to your question.

I've tried CBT, had counselling via Mind but am so scared of medication as I have a toddler and am worried it would make me sleepy/zombie like!
I was supposed to have graded exposure with the local team here but they say there's no funding.
I've tried forcing myself to do it but it's too easy to back out...

I've always wished I could physically help people with agoraphobia. I conquered it years ago so it would be great to help others.

I tried it all, spent $1000 of dollars on specialists, the only way ive found to conquer agoraphobia is exposure to your fear, over and over again until you see theres nothing to be afraid of . Nothing else works for me, it sucks no pills or thinking your way through it you have to grab that fear and face it, not just once but many times

If your afraid of traveling, travel as much as you can. If you are afraid to leave your house, leave your house 10 times a day and push yourself to go beyond your comfort zone every time. If your afraid of flying, go to the airport and hang out. Look at the planes, save up and take a few trips a year. Will it be easy nope, it will be horrible but every time you make it your mind gets more use to it. This is from someone thats gone from being confined to a chair (only place i felt safe) to my latest adventure flying to hawaii for 10 days (ziplining, snorkeling ect.) and im 47 years old. It was not easy, but youll be proud in the end.

Thank you, it's good to hear from people that have conquered it. I think I fear embarrassing myself more than anything, having a panic attack when I go out.
