I was diagnosed with IBS a long time ago (20 years?) and can usually recognise when a symptom is from that. I have been suspecting I have silent reflux as well.
This past 5 days I have been experiencing something a bit different, which has me panicking massively that I might have picked up a bug (I'm terrified of being sick), but I'm wondering if it could be related to acid problems...
I keep getting a nasty, aching pain that goes from my lower right ab, up and across at navel level, then down the left into my groin area. Basically, the colon! I have had some loose stools also. I know this sounds like IBS, but I've never had pain this bad (or widespread) before in all these years. I also have what I think is reflux pain higher up, I feel nauseous on and off, but hungry (classic acid, no?).
Reading this back, I can't really see why I'm even asking - IBS and acid reflux quite often come together, right. It's just scaring me that it's a new type of pain - on occasion it takes my breath away. It almost feels like a sudden emptying of my stomach, like a rush, or 'let-down' feeling (mums will know what I mean by 'let-down', I think! Like the let-down reflex in your breasts when your baby cries). The pain starts right after that. I might then need to go for a pee, but not generally a bm. So, I guess I'm trying to say that even though it feels like the pain is my colon, it doesn't have me rushing to the loo!
So, if it's an acid problem, could it cause pain in that area? It's not a 'knotty' pain, it's a full on ache. No gas. Can anyone relate?
Thanks x
