Hi everyone
I hope you're all doing OK (apart from it being a Monday...)
I'm about to start tapering off 40mg of Cit. I've been taking the drug, albeit mostly at lower doses, for about three years. The GP has been very supportive of me feeling it's the right time to taper down, but we're both a bit unsure about how long to try to do it over. (She is an excellent GP but it's scary, isn't it, how little there is out there about sensible ways to do this!)
Currently my plan is to go e-x-t-r-e-m-e-l-y slowly - starting with alternate days of 40mg and 35mg for a month, so that the overall level in my body is 37.5mg. If that goes OK, I'll try to go to 35mg for four weeks, then 30mg etc. I'm prepared to stop tapering at any point if I feel rubbish, I'm not gonna be a hero about it.
Would love to hear any words of wisdom from others who have tapered off 40mg. What things helped, what didn't? Anything I should watch out for (am aware of head zaps, fogginess and the like)? And does the timeline I've put out there sound sensible?
Am so glad of this community - sometimes you just need a hive-mind of people who really know about a subject to help you out!
