I know this sensation only too well, I used to try massaging the front of my throat and stretching my neck, never sure if it helped to be honest, distraction was the thing that did help once I stopped concentrating on the sensation, it eventually went away, I saw an ENT (twice) who advised me that it would go on its own eventually, once I stopped worrying about it, easier said than done, but it did go away.

Yeah, stretches can be helpful in relieving some of the tension in that area.

But the best thing is to recognise it as a harmless anxiety symptom and not to worry about it. I know it's not easy, but it does go away if you stop focusing on it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply....I really appreciate it.
It's so reassuring to know it eventually goes.
I find it so strange that for something so seemingly common the etiology is unknown. Is it subjective? Is it silent reflux? What's causing the reflux? Is it tension? Is it hunched shoulders and clenched jaw pressing on the vagus nerve????? Is it a muscle spasm????????

Oh globus is horrible. Poor you. It can stick around for a while...I had it for a good six months before my body decided to ignore it. I find chewing gum helps... especially if you get any reflux with it. Exercise is good... anything which forces your body and mind to just "survive" means you prioritise getting air into your lungs over contracting muscles around your throat.

Can't think of anything else really. It does go eventually!

I have had various responses to this question , one Dr said it was caused by tension and was a psychological condition , but a consultant I saw said it was acid reflux and prescribed me a higher dose of medication. I've had it so many times over the years and I have to say it does seem to start when I'm under a lot of stress.
