The Doors were quite a subversive band, who became sometimes dangerously dark in a peculiarly hippyish way. I think one of their most cynical songs was Touch Me – an untypically commercial production and intentionally more ‘pop’. It’s been suggested Jim’s additional “stronger than dirt” lyric at the end - then an advertising slogan for Ajax detergent – might’ve been a backhanded sneer at commercialism/consumerism.

But for sheer Doors-iness the album title track LA Woman is it! (Complete with murder and rude bits: an anagram of his name sung repeatedly.)
