    Terrified about breast clinic referral

    On Christmas Eve I found a lump in my right breast. I saw my GP on the 28th and I've been referred to the two week wait clinic, and my appointment is on 4th January. The GP feels the lump is nothing to worry about and likely to be related to my monthly cycle, or a gland. He was happy for me to watch and wait, or gave me the option of the referral. so I took the latter.

    Of course wth my severe health anxiety I'm now very scared. I'm only 35. My husband and I have recently moved house to a nicer area and I was feeling so much happier, then I find the lump. I'm trying to hold on to the fact that 9 out of 10 people referred to the breast clinic turn out to not have cancer. And that the two week referral is standard for breast lumps. Argh.

    Such things are always nervewracking. As you already said, 9 out of 10 times these things turn out to be anything but cancer. I have had many cysts and other doodads discovered in the boobies that were not cancer.

    The chances are it will be a cyst or breast tissue or something.
    I've been three times so far and have my fourth on the 3rd so I know your fear...

    I always had a two week referral too.

    Hi

    Not the same clinic as you I been referred under the two week rule because my GP was unsure well better safe than sorry about the lump he felt in the male region (well I was seen within a week to the specialist) he could not even find the lump, so an ultrasound was ordered.

    Belive me I was a nervous wreak, all what it turned out was a couple of cysts which I have named

    Well I was doing Ok but have been a bit of a wreck tonight. Oh well at lest only 5 days to go until the appointment...

    I know how you feel!! I havent been referred yet as I need to see the GP on Jan 13th! Im realy scared also.

    Ive been referred before for my right breast but this new lump is on my left breast, this lump is like a grape its squishy and quite large, im nerve wrecked PLUS ive had bloods taken on Wed for an unrelated issue to this lump to i have additional worry....

    I cant seem to see sense right now

    I was doing alright but this afternoon/evening I've been quite anxious and feeling down. Husband is at work tomorrow but will have the day off on Wednesday so he can come to the appointment with me. In theory I have lots to keep me occupied tomorrow but I know I'm just going to sit here and Google ��

    I know its so terrifying, I am holding thumbs for you for tomorrow, I only see my GP on the 13th and just seen her today as I have a terribly sore throat and coughing all the time :(
