How did you withdraw?

How did you withdraw from Mirtazapine? how did your GP tell you to go about it?

I have heard people who use the liquid and those who chops the tablets down on a slower taper. My friend says the latter is dangerous.

Any advice appreciated. I will be speaking to my GP in a couple of weeks.

Just coming off this one and gone from 30 my to 15 for 3 days then told to stop but not been on them for a great length of time

Hi, are you in a rush? I would withdraw as slowly as possible, this way you will avoid bad withdrawal and your central nervous system will have time to adjust. Some people withdraw well with little symptoms others have insomnia and nausea from mirtazapine, I would listen to your bodyand go from there, if you feel ok maybe do a bigger drop if you feel bad do less of a drop.

There shouldn't be any problem with chopping tablets if you want to taper slowly. Since mirtazapine is available in liquid form, it should be able to reach the stomach as is without a problem - but everyone reacts differently. Be aware, too, that people with anxiety often have a (temporary) surge of anxiety after a change in medication.
