Heart burn help.

Hi there

Over the last couple of weeks I have been experiencing heartburn maybe 3 times a week. It seems p worse when I think about it then suddenly I have it.

It's very mild heartburn, not uncomfortable but I feel it coming out and comes out as a kind of burp with a little tiny bit of acid. I don't need to take medication as it's not that bad and passes quickly. I can't link to it any specific food. But I have been quite stressed if that could cause it?

I don't drink on the odd occasion I will so I know it's not that.

But it's starting to bother me that it could have a more serious cause to be concerned about.

It can be maninly at night but right now I have it since lunch on and off.

Can anyone offer any help?

Acid can happen thanks to a lot of things but its generally not anything concerning, it can be down to food, stress, weight, and other factors.
if over the counter antacids work fine then I wouldn't worry about it too much x

Completely normal, as we grow older the muscle sphincter that closes off the stomach and the food pipe gradually becomes slightly weaker, and allows acid into the oesophagus (for some like myself it happens early on!). So various lifestyle factors come into play, and anything that produces excess acid (such as those mentioned by Aiden) can cause it to spill into your oesophagus.

However, if it's happening a fair bit, without treatment it may cause oesophagitis, make sure to take an antacid when you get it (regardless of how mild you may feel it is) if you're getting it in frequent bouts, stomach acid is particularly corrosive stuff no matter how short the exposure.
