So just started on Quitiapine and Im really not sure...

    Hi

Ive just been prescibed Quitiapine and Im not sure what to think.

My dose is 25mg each evening.

I am crap with medication, even one tablet of an antibiotic gives me a bad tummy so i thought id start with half a dose of the Quitiapine.

I slept really well but felt hung over all day, so last night I only took a quarter of a 25mg tablet and feel the same, hung over and really tired.

If I sit still, I could quite easily fall asleep. I do feel strangely calm as well.

Of course, having severe anxiety, I have read all the side effects and am so worried about them.

I really hate taking medication and am especially worried as this one is an antipychotic.(sp).

Can anyone give me any advice?

    Thank you

    x

I assume you've been given this due to sleep issues? They use if quite often for that so it's not just an antipsychotic.

Ideally it should just give you good deep sleep. 25mg is a tiny dose so not a big deal. I know of people on hundreds of mg a day!

    Hello

Ive been on many AD's over the years, tried Pregabalin and now this.

It's for cripplng anxiety. I cant even get out of the house by myself.

I saw a private psychiatrist and he suggested a low dose.

Im rubbish with medication - Ive got a splitting headache now.

Oh did you what dose did you go up to? I think something's wrong with me as these drugs just don't sedate me. Mirtazapine, seroquel, none of them do :-( my anxiety is sky high at moment so I've had my seroquel increased to 200mg extended release(50 morning, 150 evening) and 45mg mirtazapine.. also had some diazepam thrown in to try and help me out! Let's see a!

How are you doing? Any better? X

    Hi

Im pathetic, I was given 25mg, twice a day.

I quartered them and even this low dose knocked me out!

Ive now started on Buspirone - not sure about this either....

Do you not feel tired on your meds?

Mirtazapine - I tried it too. Did nothing for me. I was on 45mg. I think that was top dose.

What anxiety symptoms do you have?

Why aren't you giving these meds a chance? Of course it was making you sleepy, it's like a tranquiliser and you did say you also felt calm whilst on it too...wasn't that the point of them? So now on other threads you're looking for advice about how to deal with your anxiety? Don't you see the irony in that lizzie

Anxiety is cold sweats, shakes, intrusive thoughts, tunnel vision , blurry eyes, lack of motivation, dizzyness - quite a few to be honest and this is all whilst on meds

Hopefully the seroquel will calm things down for me.

No I don't get tired on any of these meds to be honest. Dunno why! My brain must be so over active :-( x

    Yes, I know.

I have anxiety about taking medication too as well as thinking I'll get the serious side effects.
