    lung cancer fear

ian 43 and stupidly smoked but gave up 8-9 years ago. i have had health anxiety for a while now and plod along ok for a while and then bang. last week
i had a cold and had blood streaked phlegm but couldn't tell if from my nose or chest, although wasn't coughing that much. I went to doc who listened to my chest and took bloods. slightly raised crp and neutrophils indication infection and said i could have chest x ray "if i wanted"! not my normal doctor who knows me. so, the cold has cleared up as has the blood and now i'm booked in waiting for an x ray and panicking that my huge trigger lung cancer will be seen, not symptomatic but just there as some are found on routine testers. i had tests a while ago and everyone said oh nothing be found but they found a uterine polyp and a hermangioma on my liver. both benign and dealt with but huge stress t the time. I know bloods don't indicate anything so can't take comfort from that and just in kind panic lose by eating or sleeping , is 43 young for lung cancer? my doctor said never seen it but dr google says different :(

The fact you stopped smoking 8-9 years ago makes the chance of this being anything sinister about half of that had you continued to smoke! The benefits as time go on will increase. Congrats on doing so. Nothing you said comes off as symptomatic of anything other than the remnants of a cold.

    Positive thoughts

Really sorry to hear about your dad, Mrs S. You must be in bits right now. It also feels unfair when there is no history of smoking as it's less common. Countrygirl recently lost a friend to the same.
