    A successfully counselling appointment

    Hiya all

Today was the third time I had seen my counsellor. The first two times were horrible, made me feel crap and panicky but today I haven't felt so good!

My counsellor taught me some relaxation techniques, she said to image a place of my own where I'm safe. I have no idea how long it lasted for. I had so much energy that I was able to speed walk to the train station and was able to catch an earlier train. I then went home, baught my friend her birthday present and treated myself to a new album and other stuff.

I'm now looking forward to my next appointment

That's great Jadey. Isn't it just fine when you connect with a therapist. Delighted it's moving in the right direction.

    Re: A successfully counselling appointment

    Hi,

I'm new to the site and wanted to say great news Jadey! It's good to hear that you're counselling's going well as I start mine next week for my second bout of anxiety.

I first had anxiety 2 years ago when I took on a really stressful job role. I work for a major phone company and they reffered me for counselling as they pay for 4 sessions for you, you can't carry on with the same counseller after these for sessions as that is all you get!! I didn't really get much from the counselling as he never said anything to me.......he didn't probe me for information and I found it all quite baffling. I'm back on Citalopram for the second time today and feel a bit rubbish but I know this will pass cos it did last time and I felt better than ever within 2 weeks.

Does anyone know how to get the best out of counselling and what to look out for? Are they all CBT trained? Any advice would be appreciated!
