    Feeling scared about tomorrow

I have to go see a urologist tomorrow morning after my doctor found some blood in my urine during a test.

I'm so scared for this appointment. I managed to calm myself down about it for most of the week but now that it's tomorrow I'm freaking out.

I've heard a lot of people say that this has happened to them and it turned out to be nothing, which really has made me feel better.

But yesterday I was just checking my news feed and this article popped up with a blurb that said the common symptoms of cervical cancer is a "painful period" and the last 5 months (with the exception. Of this one), were very painful.

I know this is dramatic, but I've basically convinced myself this is my last weekend not knowing I have cancer. I keep trying to relax and keep busy, and it works for about 10 mins and then I get really anxious again.

Think of it like handing in an exam. Waiting for your grade may be agonizing but, for the moment, it is out of your circle of control. Cancer is a scary word, but there are many other possible causes. Until you get the results the best thing you can do is stay busy. Spend time with friends and family. Divert yourself. Worrying is not going to help and may in fact hurt your recovery process (whether it is benign or serious). Feel better.

    Hi

I am going to be one of those people who is going to say this happened to me. It happened in the middle of last year went to look turned and water was pink. Unfortunately i was on holiday and could not get to the doctors for 2 Weeks. To cut a long story short went to doctor and had blood in urine sent to get a scan/scope of the bladder and scan of the kidneys and they couldn't find anything wrong and the blood in my urine had disappeared so it looks like it was a urine infection.

    Good luck for tomorrow xx

Also read the sticky about cervical cancer. Very easy to detect early on and very treatable. Make sure to get your yearly exams and you should have nothing to fear.

    Thank you for your responses.

I had blood work and a urine test about 3-4 months ago and nothing showed up in that.

I have a feeling I'm gonna go through all this anxiety and it's gonna be a fluke, which is what usually happens to me, but I still can't shake the terror of the possibility.

I saw a cardiologist last week who told me my doctor is super over the top with ordering testing with specialists ... so maybe my doctor and I aren't a good fit because since I started seeing him a couple months ago I've been in constant fear.

Thanks you My mom had it happen to her too and it was nothing.
I can't actually see anything - it was only seen through the urine test. I'm thinking I went too close to my period maybe?
They said there was no infection in the initial urine test.
Hopefully I get there, go through this and it's nothing. The waiting is the worst part.

I just wanted to chime in with my experiences. I once had very visible blood (scary!) that turned out to be an infection that was easily cured. I also have chronic microscopic blood in my urine that causes no symptoms, but shows up whenever I give a sample. I've had all the tests run, and there's nothing wrong. My doctor said about 10% of her patients have this, with no known cause. So don't panic! It's very common, and no need to think the worst! Thinking of you.

I hope tomorrow goes well for you. I thought painful periods were normal? Obviously not agonising pain but I get period pains every month on the first day. Sometimes if I forget to take a painkiller the pain will wake me up during the night and I feel ill

Thank you. I love this post, made me take a big sigh of relief. Logically I know it's probably not serious, but then every so often the HA takes over and I think the worst.

Mine were agonizing two months ago and this month was normal again.
I don't feel like they'd just up and go away if something was deadly wrong.
In general everything else is normal.

I also have friends who have them so badly that they can't go to work. I guess they're generally normal lol.
