Antidepressants can make things worse initially because of the increased serotonin activity. It usually only lasts for a couple of weeks.

How much Zoloft are you on and how long have you been on that dose?

I don't want to scare you off. Zoloft helps many folks. I am very, very sensitive to drugs. I took Zoloft, 25mg for 20 days. I had horrible side effects and woke up feeling like a Zombie. I tried to stick it out but decided it wasn't for me.

The good side? My brain was spinning out of control with "what if" thoughts, I cried for two weeks. The tears have stopped. The medication slowed my brain down and I was able to push the thoughts away. For the first time in my life, I have NO ANXIETY! None, it's gone. The doctor feels that the Zoloft might have reset the circuits in my brain. Who knows, it worked for me. She said if I feel anxious again, we can try Celexa. I would rather stay drug free, that's just my choice. Good luck and I hope Zoloft helps you.

Antidepressants typically take 3-12 weeks to kick-in so you have a way to go, but the flatness should ease fairly soon, though this isn't a guarantee as everyone's experience is unique to them..

I spent a couple of weeks in hell on start-up. Then things got better. Been on it for over year now and have begun to taper off it.

    Re: Depressed

I've heard the same thing that medication can take a few weeks before it starts to work. I was more determined to learn how to live my life with out medication. During those 20 days I wasn't taking care of anything. I mean nadda, my pets, the house, I wasn't interested in anything. I wanted to try life without Zoloft. So far so good! I hope they work for you or at least give you the tools to cope. It did for me.
