Increased Heart Rate

Hi. Was just sat watching tele and decided to take my pulse, it was 68 but then increased to 80 and then to 90 and stayed like this for 5 minutes. I then did breathing exercises and it came down to 65. Been feeling anxious all day but thought was relaxed when watching tele so don't understand what caused my pulse to increase when I was taking it?

My pulse always increases when I take it. It's from being anxious
