Propranolol questions

Hi guys! So I've been prescribed 40mg propranolol for when I'm in stressful situations (a party etc). Well I was wondering if I took it every now and then would I need to ease off it? I'm scared it might shock my heart as I read people taking them everyday need to ease off it before they can stop taking it so is this the same for someone taking it once in a while? Thanks

I take a beta blocker twice a day for heart disease. There's nothing to be concerned about. All it does is place a limit on how hard your heart will work. That's why it's helpful with anxiety. Your heart won't react by beating faster due to panic and helps keep you calm.

I wouldn't think personally if you took it as needed you will have any problems. I take 40mg x3 a day for anxiety daily and stopped abruptly once and had a racing heart which your not supposed to do.
