Stopping 80mg sr

I've lost 6stone in 7months due to undiagnosed health problems. For the past few months I've felt dizzy off and on, but for the past couple of weeks it's been pretty much constant. I borrowed my parents blood pressure machine and my pressure is really low. I think because I've lost so much weight my natural blood pressure has come down and the propranolol is now to strong. On Sunday I felt crap and every time I stood up I thought I was going to fall over I felt that dizzy, so I called 111 and GP rang me back and advised me to stop taking my propranolol. I spoke to a pharmacists today who said you shouldn't just stop and online says the same.

Can you just stop cold turkey?
Haven't taken it since Sunday.

Any advice appreciated.

It should not be stopped abruptly at all.
But reduced slowly.
The GP should not have advised you to stop without take your BP.
And are not you.

I have stopped propranolol abruptly, when I developed asthma. I was only on 10mg X twice per day.
And had only been on it for a few week.

Get a second opinion. First thing tomorrow. Go see a gp

Thanks I will phone my GP surgery in the morning.

I've lost all faith in GP's and the NHS as I've been ill for such a long time, no sense of urgency and nobody giving a toss!

If anybody else says it's free I will explode! It's not free we all pay for it!

The main issue with cold-turkeying beta-blockers is a rebound spike in blood pressure which can be a concern for some. But if you're in reasonably good shape without significant heart disease this shouldn't won't be a problem. Your GP apparently doesn't thinks it is and s/he is best placed to know.

Propranolol would have been completely out of your system in under two days so if you were going to keel over you probably would have by now.
