Firstly I'm 47 and no planning on getting pregnant. The first day of my last period was 29 July and this is second time this year I've been late. I'm convincing myself it's serious. Can anyone help?

I'm no expert, but do periods not become less predictable in mid to late 40s? Don't they stop in some women altogether?
I'm sure you'll appreciate that nobody - including women who've been through this before - can tell you why this has happened on a message board. If you're concerned, consider talking to your doctor.

The obvious thing is you are in perimenopause.
Hi
This is just a courtesy reply to let you know that your post was moved from its original place to a sub-forum that is more relevant to your issue.
This is nothing personal - it just enables us to keep posts about the same problems in the relevant forums so other members with any experience with the issues can find them more easily.

Because of your age it could be the perimenopause, but it's only a suggestion until you get your hormone levels checked. Periods can be missed for lots of reasons including extreme stress, but at 47 it may well be the start of the run up to your last period. I had my last period at 49 and had erratic periods for a few years before that.
But it's best to have a chat to your doctor or one of the practice nurses about it.

I recently had blood tests and my hormone levels were normal as I'd mentioned my periods being odd. Thank you for your comments and thoughts though I appreciate it. As like everyone here, my mind is telling me to panic. Xx
I would honestly go back to your doctor. I want to be absolutely clear that I'm not saying this because I think there's anything serious going on. It's just that the doctors' is the only place to get firm answers with this.
