Hi
I’m going through crisis at the moment, this is my 4th week.
I’ve was in secondary not care about 5 years ago, but got discharged about 3 years later when I began to feel better.
Been in touch with Gp who’s advice was to register with Healthy Minds or if suicidal A&E. Not much help
From there I was ringing round trying to source my own help through nhs, trying to see if I could get any further myself.
I rang the MHT secondary care that I was under, the told me I could refer myself just because I’d been with them before and needed Gp referral.
So I got that, they have had a weekly meeting and from what doctor told them about the condition I was in they (my ex psychiatrist also) think I don’t need secondary care so referred me to single point entry(healthy minds)
I think this was because I was NOT suicidal and didn’t need psychiatrist drug involvement (already on venlafaxine/diazepam)
Sane at hospital couldn’t help as not suicidal
Mind could only speak to receptionist who ask did I want to be put on list
Silverline (over 55’s) young kid
So today 3 weeks later I’ve just had my call from first stage access (healthy minds)
Questions like
My sexuality,Gp,faith, (what’s this got to do with MH)
Arrange of questions about my problems, thought etc
After about half an hour I got my answer
Do I want councilling or cbt, I would like both please
No you can only have one, as they would interact with each other.
Ok I’ll have cbt
I’ll put you on list, step 3 high intensity
There’s a 10-12 Month waiting list!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I’m still left in crisis, on my own with just help of diazepam
I’m disgusted with how things have gone in the nhs, ive worked for 35 years and come to need help again and the system stinks
Is this the case in your area when you need MH help? I’d love to know what happens in different areas.
