Sorry to hear that Tristan, sadly going cold turkey is never a good option.

You might be best speaking to your GP regarding stopping and trying a different med.

Depending on the med chosen you might be able to cross taper rather than having a period taking nothing.

I did mention in your other thread that it might impact sleep if you suddenly stop. Think you have to reduce more gradually. You can cut tabs in half and try 7.5mg for a while. But speak to your GP as well about this.

I'm not surprised Tristan, although some take this in the morning, it is very unusual for it to be prescribed in this way. Mirtazapine is really meant to be taken at night as it aids sleep.

You appear to be really struggling at the moment, so maybe you would consider having a word with your GP? Unfortunately with the best will in the world I really don't think anyone here can help you with this.

I wish you the best. Take care of yourself.

Agree with above - you have to take mirt at night as it's sedating. Did your GP not advise you about this?

    Re: Cold turkey ???

    Tristan,

Mirt acts as an antihistamine at low doses. You may start low in order to build up but staying at a low dose will only mean using it to treat sleep. That's how this drug works.

Increasing the dose removes the antihistamine effect as serotegenic effects start up. I suggest you speak to your GP about how you are supposed to be using it.
