3 weeks on Mirtazapine

Hello I recently started this tablet for depression. As advised by the gp I took 15mg for 2 weeks and then up to 30mg for this third week. I've noticed no difference what so ever in my mood etc, if anything I feel worse plus the weight is piling on which adds to the depression. Does anyone knows if I can just stop these because of the short term and start something else. I really hope I don't have to ween of them after only a few weeks as I'm desperate to try something else that will work.

My experience is that when I initially tried mirtazapine several years ago I only stayed on them for approximately 3 or 4 weeks when I decided I wanted to come off them. I just stopped taking them and had little to no withdrawal symptoms, just some diarrhea (sp?) and a few head shivers, that's all.

I did subsequently go back on them several months later and stayed on them successfully for about 10 months.

I don't think your giving them long enough so my worry would be that you stop these then will be asking the same question about the new drug in 3 weeks. I would try and give it a couple of months nothing and no drug is going to radically change things in a few weeks the changes creep up on you just give it time.
