    Zoloft and panic attacks

    Hello everybody! I'm new here.

I have a panic disorder. I was wondering if anyone has experience with zoloft. Does it help with panic attacks?
I've been taking it for almost a month. I haven't had anny terrible side effects fortunately.
But I don't see much progress yet. I'm still having panic attacks.
How long does it take to start working?
I'm taking 50 mg per day.

Thank you very much for help!

    P.S. Sorry on my english.

Lustral / Zoloft can take up to 6 weeks to begin to work.
50mg is quite normal for a starting dose.
This is usually given to make sure that the tablets are not causing you any severe side effects.

Talk to your doctor to see if he or she has plans to increase the dose.

I take 150mg and I find it very helpful.

    hi ally
I was glad to hear that someone else was feeling as though zoloft wasn't working. I have been on it for a couple of months now and I am finally feeling somewhat better. I am only on50mg so I think i might try what the person before suggested uping the dosage. Take care and I hope the panic subsides.

    Tessa ,

Please do discuss any dose changes with your prescriber first. There may be a reason why you cannot increase your dose.

These meds are powerful and we don't want any ill effects.

Hi - I was on Zoloft but I couldn't tolerate it. Remember not everyone is the same. What may work for me, may not work for you. I was started on a dose of 25mg and it was increased to 100mg towards the end. It seems to help with the anxiety and panicky feelings but the medication gave me tremendous headaches. When I first started the meds, the headaches lasted a week, afterward it was increased to 50mg and again headaches for over a week then it had to be increased again to 100mg and this time the headaches never left. I had to switch medication. Now I am on Paxil CR. At first I was on 12.5mg and I felt fine but very light-headed and dizzy so it was increased to 25mg. Thankfully now I feel fine. But remember not everone is the same. The medications do take about 6 weeks to take full effect. Make sure to let your prescribing doctor know how you are feeling. Take care and be patient.

I'm on Lustral for my depression but it is also used for PTSD, anxiety, OCD etc. I haven't really been taking notice of its effect on my anxiety levels but my anxiety has reduced, this may or may not be due to Lustral. I am pleased that Lustral is used for anxiety as depression and anxiety go hand in hand.

I would go back to your doctor Ally and tell them your concerns and they will probably up the dose. I am on 100mg a day, two 50mg tablets. Doctors normally start people on the lowest dose and increase it if it is needed. I was lucky as my doctor had already prescribed Lustral to me on a previous occasion and knew what worked for me so I went straight on to 100mg.

    Regards,

Take little steps and remember it is OK if your recovery is not a smooth one.
