Pelvic and abdominal ultrasound

Hi

What can a pelvic and abdominal ultrasound show?

Can it show ovarian or uterine cancer?

I had one done as my periods have gone a bit weird and I feel like I need to wee all the time and nothing showed apart from gallstones.

Not sure about uterine cancer, but the tests most often used for ovarian cancer are transvaginal ultrasound and the CA-125 blood test. Pretty sure a pelvic ultrasound would detect any growths or cysts though.

Is there much difference bewteen a pelvic one and a transvaginal scan?

I had both, when I complained of painful periods. I think the TVUS just offers a clearer view

Also, you have to do it with a full bladder. Maybe that's why they didn't do it
