New heart worry now thanks to Gastroscopy test...

I had an endoscopy today and it didn't go too well.

Above all else, I got very distressed and my heart rate went up to about 200bpms...

It went down afterwards but now I feel terrible, constant palpitations and a headache at the back of my head...

I've had some tea and cookies but I still feel awful...

Could it cause a heart attack now because of the stress and increase in heart rate? :'(

I can't believe I went through all that and now I've got another worry....

In the absence of heart disease or another factor that would cause you to have a heart attack, no.

I've been watching cross country skiing recently, and interestingly the commentators mentioned the athletes heart rates. They mentioned that their heart rate came DOWN to about 180bpm when they were in the target shooting phase, meaning that for most of the time the HR was higher than that.

Thank you, I'm too worried to go to sleep now as I'm concerned I'm going to have a heart attack. The nurse seemed concerned at the time when my heart was going up like that....I wish I'd never gone for it now :'(

200bpm is high, but it's not dangerous unless it goes on for weeks, probably pointing to an underlying cause.

200bpm during a bad bout of anxiety (especially during an unpleasant procedure) just isn't unusual. When I first had anxiety, my heart rate was regularly over 180bpm.

You're literally worrying about nothing here.

it could very well be the anesthesia they had you under while you had your procedure, or even the air that they put in your stomach while they scoped you could of triggered a response in your vaguas nerve. just a thought

Worrying about nothing? You really think that’s an appropriate thing to say on a forum for people with health anxiety!?
I remember when this forum used to be friendly and supportive, in 2009 and a few years onwards, it got me through one of the toughest times in my life... obviously it’s not what it was...
    don’t worry, I won’t be bothering again...

Would you rather I supported your unfounded fears? You're cherry picking what I said in order to feel offended, for whatever reason.

I'm trying to convince you that you DON'T have a problem

What exactly do you want people to say to make you feel better?
