propanolol taken as and when required

    Hi

I have been given propranolol 10mg quite some time ago by the doctor for my anxiety. I used to take 2 a day even up to 3 a day some time ago but after my recent 'bout' of anxiety I cant seem to take it regularly it makes me feel quite out of it. My doctor has said I can take it as and when I feel anxious a bit like paracetomol is taken for a headache. So when I feel anxious which is mostly every day I take one 10mg tablet, so maybe I can handle one per day. Does anyone else take it as and when.

    many thanks

    bekki

Re: propanolol taken as and when required

    Hi,
I was prescribed 10mg as and when but like you I found it made me feel really out of it and dizzy on just one off occasions. I started taking one every morning as a base line, now when I get anxious and may need a second later in the day it doesn’t make me feel off at all. I think it’s all a tolerance thing, for me if I had one just when I needed it it was totally unhelpful due to the side effects but now that I take one regularly I find that I don’t suffer any unpleasant effects if I need another some days.

    I hope this helps x
