What Medicine Helped You ?

When looking up medication reviews on here I find it all very confusing, each pill seems to have more bad press than good , and more negative reviews than good.

It would be nice to see at a glance what meds help the most, so have posted a poll, would everyone please take the time to tick which med helped them please , so it can help others .

I voted Venlafaxine (Effexor), as it's definately helping with my depression. Although I think the trouble is that while one thing might work for me, these type of drugs effect each person differently. I personally found that some other AD's I couldn't take at all as the side effects were so bad but a lot of other people have no problems taking them. It also hasn't solved my anxiety problems.

I found Valium and the other benzos to be very similar, helped lots with the anxiety however there is the addiction problem so although it helps, it can cause more problems long term.

I also take Quetiapine (Seroquel) which has helped a lot with anxiety, works kinda like valium but is non-addictive.

Also Zopiclone is a great sleeping tablet that I used a lot, but stopped taking them when I changed to seroquel with very little withdrawal effects.

like Jim I take Quetiapine which has done the most for me. Citalopram I take but I have never felt it did that much for me.

Yes they are. Venlafaxine is the generic name and Effexor the brand.

I've found a drug called Mirtazapine (zispin) has helped most, and Lithium.

OK, mine isn't listed here-I now take Cymbalta/duloxetine which has helped me greatly. One word of caution though, remember that different pills do different things to diff people, so what helps one may not help another. This means that whichever drug receives the largest number of votes on this poll isn't necessarily the most effective and may not be suitable for you.

Valium, is what i take , only now and again mind, it,s another word for diazapam i think, i perfer diazapam myself, still it has the same effect no matter what you call it.

Seroxat (Paxil) for me. I know it gets alot of bad press but it saved me.

Hi,

I find lofepramine helpful, though I know its one of the older antidepressants. I also used cipralex at the very beginning...that was ok but found coming off it a bit of a chore.
