    Does this sound like endometriosis?

I was diagnosed with polycystic ovaries and a hormone imbalance when I was 14 due to irregular periods and mild male pattern hair growth. This seemed to get better as I got older and now I've been having periods every single month since coming off the pill back in 2012.

Last year I began experiencing period pains that were like no other. I'd have to get into a hot bath and lay down as the cramps were very strong. They often traveled down into my back passage and made me feel like I needed to poop. This didn't happen every month but more than I was happy with. It also became very painful to sit down.

This didn't happen for a while and in September I felt like a pulling pain in my pelvic area. Sometime I feel this sensation if I stretch in bed. Due to stress my periods started arriving earlier. But I've been having cramps the week before and after my period. The pain is on both sides of my pelvis, near my bladder and my lower back which travels down my legs.

The rest of the month I'm fine, sometimes get a little cramping but around my period it's awful and I have to constantly have a hot water bottle on my lower abdomen/pelvic area.

Ive seen a nurse and had a pelvic exam. Also had a swab test to rule out infection which came back negative. I asked about ovarian cancer and she said from feeling my pelvis I have nothing to worry about.

Any advice would be really appreciated x

Also forgot to add I've been experiencing what I imagine to be hot flashes and am always hungry!

If you are in this much pain I would go back to the docs and ask for a referral to be honest.

It's not excruciating pain. It's just very uncomfortable and my HA probably makes it 10 times worse.

    Hi,

I agree that you should see a specialist.

Endometriosis can be very painful, my daughter has it and may have had it since she was a teen.
Her symptoms sound very similar to yours. She has a high tolerance to pain but ended up at the gynecologist. A scan revealed a polycystic ovary with adhesion's and 1 blocked Fallopian tube.

An operation revealed that a part of the uterus had adhered to the bowel so this was blasted off. She was fine for a year or so then it became worse again. This time there were no adhesions so she had an IUD inserted which helped heaps. She had that a couple of years before having it removed as they're thinking about starting a family later this year. She is 33.

ps. Her pains and heavy periods have returned but she's coping well

Hi, I am experiencing similar symptoms. The pulling pelvic pain when i sit down or stretch and discomfort in general. I was also diagnosed with PCOS at 17y/o. I am now 27 and lately due to stress my periods have been very irregular. I am worried it could be something serious..i can only see a doctor wednesday next week. I need some reassurance please!

I have the exact same pains as you, started last year, the feeling of pulling in my pelvis area, period like pain that goes into my back passage, legs, back etc. I also had a time of very heavy bleeding and huge clots as well (not sure if that happened to you). I have had PCOS since I was 18 (I am 41 now). I went and had a TV ultrasound and was found to have a thickened endometrial lining and then had a d&c and hysterscopy. I need to have a hysterectomy on June 4th due to the results. If I were you, I would definitely get a transvaginal ultrasound.
