I have a permanent scar on one of my breasts from a hot water bottle, the skin just bubbled up into this blister about an inch across.
I also have a scar on one knee from falling asleep with an icepack on it, the skin still feels weird.

Really? Ouch! Painful at the time?
This one across my girlfriend’s lower back was almost like a mottled, bruising, from the constant heat. It took up her entire lower back, so she was pretty worried. Skin doesn’t like being exposed to either temperatures then.
Too many people overvalue what they are not and undervalue what they are.

Yes, you have to be careful with hot water bottles BlueIris.
My mum burnt her back sitting with one on the sofa.
Darksky, the heat flushes far outdo the cold for me too.

Not to be left out. I have a bottle burn scar on my shin. About the size of a 20p. I collected it when I was a child
Then about a year ago my mother was getting the air out of the bottle before screwing it up and she held it to her body. Well you can guess, it was not only air that came out. She had to have the nurse round to dress it.

Ouch darksky
Maybe hot water bottles not such a great idea after all.
I've never really used hot water bottles. I have heating pads - including one from the 70s that was my mom's and gets incredibly hot, so I don't use it often - and I also have a hiking sock filled with rice that I microwave. It just seems like less work, overall. That said, I'll use both for muscle aches or even just if it's cold out.

It can be absolutely freezing when I get in bed, but you can bet your life I’ll be kicking the quilt off at some point during the night,
ive done that with a hot water bottle, fell asleep holding it on my tummy, ended up with a red mottled stomach that took ages to disappear, funny thing is it wasn’t burning me or I wouldn’t have kept it there.
They can be dangerous little bugger can’t they....
Have you ever seen someone blow one up, I saw someone on telly years ago do it, blew it up till it popped, wouldn’t recommend it though...x
I do love the cold, I find it calms me as well. It's very invigorating.
We got our first snow last week and hopefully will have many more before winter is done. My nephew loved it. I love just walking around in the snow, it's so peaceful. And we certainly need the moisture.

Poppy, we've had a flurry of snow which didn't come to anything.
You know that saying "it's too cold to snow".
I think you've got that right YNWAI get cold when anxious but get hot when a panic comes...
