Icing an injury for too long

    Hi,

First post, please help. I hate my health anxiety and feel like it rules my life. I have ulnar nerve damage in my elbow where the funny bone is, confirmed by nerve tests. I am already a hypochondriac mess at the prospect of needing nerve surgery. I was told by PT to ice it 2x a day for 15-20 min each time. I was busy playing with my son and no access to a clock and may have had the ice pack on my elbow for as much as 30 min without realizing it. It really didn't feel like it was that long... no way to know for sure but that is my best guess. I felt more numb then usual when I took it off and now over an hour later the area still feels a little cold and numb and the ulnar pain/sensation isn't coming back like usual. So worried I damaged my elbow nerve even more because of my stupidity!!!! Please please talk me down because I feel like I could have a panic attack any minute.

10 additional minutes is nothing to worry about at all. In fact, it seems to have helped

You can't cause damage like this - you are fine.
