    Raised ESR

I have recently had sore and painful lymph glands in my neck, a temperature and felt generally run down, my Doctor ran a number of blood tests, all of which returned normal apart from my ESR which was 24. A repeat ESR test was done yesterday and it had increased to 34, however I feel better in myself and have returned to work. With the increased result I am now panicking!! Any advice?

How long ago was the 24? According to Dr. Google, ESR can remain elevated for several days after a source of inflammation is removed.

I wouldn’t think it would be all that surprising given you were very ill for the ESR to still be elevated a week later.

What did your doctor say about the results?

The receptionist gave me the results over the phone, I have a telephone appointment on Friday with the Dr to discuss it. Unfortunately, my mind is in overdrive until then, currently my big fear is that it is lymphoma?
