    Re: test

    I wish

MNIT - my laptop did some Windows updates and ever since then when I reply to a post I get an extra blank line between each line I type.

Trying to find out why as it is really annoying

    Re: test

Ah, the double spacing issue. Microsoft Word was always a pain for doing that too.

There should be a setting somewhere for it. It happens occasionally to mine when I'm adding quoted text onto a previous post with quotes in but most of the time it's fine.

I'm in Windows 10 and no issues post updates. It's bound to have altered one of you settings for some reason...and they wonder why we are worried about driverless cars (a double spacing of lanes might be a problem on many a road )

    Re: test

MNIT - so you think it is a Firefox issue then cos Chrome seems ok.

Can't find an option for it yet though

    Re: test

If it's just Firefox then this might tell you now you know it's fine in Chrome:

Type some words. Press ENTER. You should get a double space.

Now type another one and press SHIFT and ENTER. If that gives you a single line space then yes it's a setting in Firefox that has been changed. It's set to Paragraph rather than Body Text I think.

At least this is the setting in Mozilla Thunderbird so I'm wondering if it's about the same? The below gets to the setting in Thunderbird:

There is a check box for it in Tools -> Options -> Composing -> General -> HTML and un-check either "Use Paragraph format instead of Body Text by default.

    Hi Terry

Yeah I have been googling but I am not using Thunderbird so those options don't exist for me.

It only double spaces when I post, not when I am typing.

I have logged a support ticket with Mozilla but I don't hold out much hope.

    Re: test

    The fix is:

    (1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful or accepting the risk.

    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste newline and pause while the list is filtered

    (3) Double-click the editor.use_div_for_default_newlines preference to switch the value from true to false (was false in Firefox 57-59)
