    Low WBC Blood test

Hi! This is my first time posting on the site after being a long time lurker. I am having a really rough time with stress and anxiety right now after getting some lab work back. I have been feeling constant fatigue and muscle pain the last few months so I was sent in for blood tests. Everything came back normal except my WBC was low at a 3.0 (average is 4.0-11.0) and my Neutrophils at 1.4 (average is 2.0-7.5). This ended up flagging me as having “Neutropenia”. My doctor called me to schedule an appointment to come in and talk to him next week and of course I started googling and now I’m fearing I have cancer. I haven’t felt like I’ve been sick with a virus or anything so I’m just wondering if anyone’s been that low and it ended up being nothing or something minor?
    Thanks!

    Of course!

Maybe if we keep pointing out how googling is a BAD idea, it will deter 1 person from doing it.

I've had these types of numbers for about 14 years now. When it first happened my doc sent me to a hematologist to get evaluated. He followed me for a year before suggesting we just do a bone marrow biopsy to figure out what is going on. Turns out it's idiopathic - fancy way of saying normal for me. I have low numbers of precursor cells so my counts are just lower naturally, what's there is working well so I don't worry about it much anymore.

You might also do a redraw in a month and see if it bounces back. But don't be scared if they send you to get evaluated.

Thank you for the reply! I’ll try to not worry about it as much

    Hi

This is just a courtesy reply to let you know that your post was moved from its original place to a sub-forum that is more relevant to your problem.

This is nothing personal - it just enables us to keep posts about the same problems in the relevant forums so other members with any experience with the issues can find them more easily.

Hello, Im new to the site and was just reading through previous posts and came across yours.
In 2015 I became unwell and for a long time after was suffering awful fatigue, I was sent to haematology where they did blood tests and found I had a low White Blood Count, mine usually stays around 1.2 -1.4 but has dropped to 1 in the past.
Have they suggested a Bone Marrow Biopsy to you?
I hope you are doing well now!
