    Coming off mirtazapine HELP

I have been on 30 mg of mirtazapine for 2 months and have currently dropped down to 15mg for nearly 2 weeks then gonna just stop this is how the dr advised me to do it and the main reason for stopping is the major weight gain I actually can't believe how quickly I have gained weight it is depressing me so much.
Has anyone stopped this drug and started loosing weight I am mainly worried about not being able to sleep once I stop these meds and the increased anxiety which I have experienced slightly with dropping the dose

I suggest taking it slower than that - chop the pills into parts (use a pill cutter if need be) - there is an official tapering schedule/table out there if you have a look, but this document suggests doing it over 4 weeks:

My experience is that most GPs know very very little about tapering; I once stopped a SSRI cold turkey (neither I nor my doc knew any better) and it was not fun. Do it slowly, one day at a time.

But the OP has only been on Mirtazipine for 2 months so that rate of stopping seems ok. Different if they had been on it for years.

Hi...I am a mess since I've gone off mirtazipine. I have terrible insomnia, heart pulpitations, constant anxiety, feel like Im coming out of my skin, and losing weight. I think some gain but I'm losing and am very thin and need to gain.
I started at 15 mg, then went to 7.5, then 5...I thought I could stop all together. Its been only 8 days and I'm a wreck. My husband wants to leave me...I'm starting a new job. I think I went too fast off of it. I contacted Point of Return who help with tapering. Has anyone used them? I guess they have a team of specialists who help guide you and they also have non habit forming supplements to go with the tapering.
My wonder is...I hate to do it but Im thinking about going back on so that I gain some of my life back and then taper with appropriate support. I just don't know how much to go back to. I'm scared...very scared.
Since its the weekend, I can't call a doctor or contact Point of Return until Monday. I'd like to start back tonight to maybe get some sleep and stop this anxiety!

I think you've probably come off it too quickly. Everyone differs when it comes to tapering - eg, some need longer period between doses.

If you can cut tablet down to approx 5mg it will probably help with short-term problem of insomnia - but you definitely need to contact your doc for advice re a proper tapering plan.
