Summer social anxieties- social media GRR

Does anyone else find they get this?

Seeing bunches of people at the pub or having bbq's?

Even though we do these things from time to time, we certainly don't on a regular basis and I find it can make you feel quite incomplete.

    Anyone relate?

Why oh why are we driven by the social parameters of social media?!!!!

Yes I frequently wonder about it, and feel bad that I’m not doing more to take advantage of the summer weather.
But there’s nothing I really want to do, and I certainly can’t afford to either!

I think I'm long past the "do what normal people do" stage now I did used to bother me and there are still elements that do (e.g. no kids, lack of travelling, etc) but much of the socialising I'm not that bothered about anyway. I've often found my friends change as I change jobs anyway.

But something that always bothers me about summer is not getting out and enjoying it. And I'm self conscience about putting weight on so you won't be seeing me without a coat to pad areas out for a bit of balance and in this kind of heat it's not good. I'm less concerned others thinking it is strange than I was since it's not likely anyone is going to say anything to me as I keep myself unapproachable (I've always been approachable in work or social life but prefer others to mind their own business when I'm out & about) so most strangers wouldn't be an issue for anyway.

I used to feel that way too sometimes. Even though I do a lot of fun stuff of my own too. The difference is that I see the downs and the ups in my life but on social media we only (most of the time) see the ups in other peoples' lives and think that they have it way better than we do. The truth is that some do, some don't, and most of us are all pretty much in the same boat. Once I realized that I rarely feel that way anymore.
