have the sedation hun..i chose not to once and it was horrid we are all different of course..but i had the sedation once and it was very mild..so nothing to worry about hun,and the procedure was much smoother..it also depends on who does it too..so ask them to be gentle with you good luck .love Paddie.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hello,I was sedated for my endoscopy. It was ok.I would much rather be a sleep than awake. Its all very quick and you dont feel a thing. All I had was a slight sore throat after. They gave me a lovely cup of tea after and I went home and slept all day.You will be ok,I know you will still be anxious, but it will be ok.

Sorry for my ignorance but by sedation do you mean general anaesthetic ?
If so then I got put under general anaesthetic after having my second son and i was completely fine afterwards. I never had my time to think about it (thank god) but I had no adverse effects at all

Have the sedation, you'll hate it without, it's perfectly safe. Never had one myself, but in my job I see things like this regularly, never seen anyone have a bad reaction to sedation, but what they do while you're asleep , you're better not knowing about!

    Yep

I'd go for sedation...it's usually quite enjoyable! People who opt not to have it usually find the whole experience more uncomfortable.

Don't worry - they know what they are doing and you will be perfectly safe xxx

    Hello Sy !
Go for the sedation - you'll be fine. The endoscopy doesn't hurt but it is uncomfortable, especially if you're anxious to start with ! Sedation isn't the same as having a general anaesthetic and you come round alot quicker afterwards. Also you will be relaxed throughout the ; if you're awake you belch alot because of the air they use to see what they're doing !
    Be kind to yourself
