    Time scale for side-effects

I wonder if anyone can help with this.

I am just over 6 weeks in to 15mg Mirtazapine and things are going relatively well. A few minor side effect issues, but nothing significant.

My question is, can I start to relax a little now? Or can bad side effects just start up at any time into taking the med? Could I, for instance, suddenly start getting bad joint pain, like some do, or some other weird thing?

The hard thing I am finding is that how is it possible to know whether or not something is a side effect? If I get the flu, is it flu or a side effect? If my back starts aching, is it something normal, or a side effect?

    Any thoughts?

    Hi,
I was just reading about Mirtazapine and a study revealed that it's one of the most effective and tolerable antidepressants around. I'd say any side effects would have shown themselves by now so yes you can relax and let it do it's job. I'm glad it's working for you

    +1.

Mirt is very easily tolerated compared to most ADs; it's one of the best things about it, and a reason I am told it is top of the list for doctors when treating people who are in a bad way and will find it hard to deal with 3-4 more weeks of hell from SSRI SEs.

6 weeks on, and most SEs should be done and dusted. Just keep an eye on your diet and your weight. Eat a lot of salad and lean chicken. And don't obsess over minor ailments - everyone gets these from time to time, on meds and off. A majority of people on Mirt are just fine and, statistically speaking, you'll probably be one of them.
