    panic rising

Hi, I was reading the newspaper about 10-00am the paper was on my lap and I must have lowered my head tooo far and I had this sudden sharp pain in the back of my head behind the left ear. Really scary, only lasted a split second realy BUT the fear - what have I done? have I damaged a nerve? After a few minutes I tried to stand up but I was tooo scared to try.
then when I did I felt giddy (was this just panic or something sinister?)
Now my hair feels heavy / my lips / fingers / even my toes are tingling.
Is it all just fear? This is my problem - it is always 'life threatning' How would I know the difference? Even if I want to I cannot see my doctor before tomorrow - Oh the fear is awful!!!!
Does anyone else ever get this sudden pain? I do know I lowered my head more than usual - should have held the paper properly.
    Glad to hear from you

    Re: panic rising

hi June, there is no need to worry, i have regulaly get sharp pain just behin my ears and sometimes anywhere in my head, its very scary at the very moment you realise whats happened but all the other symptoms i reckon are a sure sign of panic afterwards, no doubt has that happened to me many times, like you i also think everything its life threatning, but i guess we just have to think, its not your fine, something would have happened by now.

hope you feel better and calmer soon

    xxxxxxx

Oh SammiB, Thank you for your kind words. I get so annoyed with myself for worrying. BUT I can't stop. I have just been reading about Hyperventilation on the 'symptoms' menu it amazing what I already know and yet completely ignore when panic sets in!!!!
Fear of fear is a terrible thing
    Thank you
    best wishes to you

    Re: panic rising

    Hiya June,
I'm the same as Sammi.I get sharp pains going into my head that are such a shock that it makes my head jolt. This has been going on for the last 20 years so i don't even think about it anymore. It just takes a few minutes for the painful shock to subside then i carry on as normal.
I hope this helps to know that you are not alone on this.

    Re: panic rising

the more I read on this site the more I am amazed at what we all cope with - and maybe have suffered in terror and in silence.
I find that putting my fears out there and hearing that others have the same problem - quite mind blowing- I have always felt so isolated.
    Thank you for your help
    Hugs to you both
    June
