Pap test phobia and mid cycle spotting.

I just turned 26 and I have not had a smear test since I was 21. I was a bit braver back then when I had it done.

It was clear.

3 years later I started to spot mid cycle (almost always occurring around days 11-16 of my cycle) . This has been happening for fairly consistently since then, which is more than 3 years now. My grandma told me she did this for years.

I found out about ovulation causing mid cycle bleeding. I've always hoped that's what it is.

Some months I don't spot mid cycle at all though!

I've too scared to get another smear test since. But I've decided to finally take action and get another smear.

I'm scared out of my mind!!

Has anyone had a similar experience?

I should note that I'm not on any form of birth control and I have ZERO sexual experience. I have never ever come into contact with anyone else's genitals!! I know its rare at my age, but I figure health wise it could be a good thing considering I have not had a pap in 5 years.

I've been very shaky and crying a lot lately, anyone who can share their similar experiences, I would greatly appreciate it....

HPV can only be contracted through skin-to-skin contact with genitals. So I wouldn't worry! Most sexually active people will get HPV at some point in their lives, most cases it goes away on its own.

I know this is a few months late, so I hope all came back clear and this helps you not worry about your next one! If you have ever been vaccinated against HPV there is a really good success rate, but not sure how it is in America.
