Fishmanpa, yes there's that, too. We have a high deductible plan, too. I loved the one I had when I was working and had an HSA. I was able to save tons of money and cover my whole childbirth expense with money I'd set aside in the HSA. But, the plan we have now through my husband's job is not nearly as good and there's not HSA, just reimbursement for a portion from his boss. I see a therapist twice a month and it's $101 per visit until we meet the deductible, which I 100% cannot afford - it goes straight on the American Express.

We have ACA (Obamacare). For the first few years, it was great. Kept our doctors, got great discounts etc. When Trump came into office, his goal was to get rid of it. He couldn't so he threw wrenches in the gears. They cut back subsidies to the insurance companies and the company we had pulled out of the network. The only company available in our county doesn't even cover the county! We had to change doctors and now travel 45 minutes for medical care. They said we could apply for umbrella coverage for the specialists we need to see that are not in their network of providers but were denied.

I've spoken with social workers at the hospitals but we're in that income bracket that is too much to get aid and too little to afford the bills. Same thing happened when I tried to get disability for my wife after her illness. Sure, I could have fudged my income and emptied my bank accounts like many do to take advantage of the system but I'm not going to lie. I'm 60 and my wife is 55 so we're getting closer but not there yet for Medicare. Even spending for eye care and a dentist is challenging at this point. I suppose I could go to social services and see if there's anything they could do but having dealt with them with my wife, I'm not optimistic.

Sadly, there are a large percentage of people in the same boat.

Indeed! Its been a challenge since the illnesses of myself and my wife for sure but we have a roof over heads, food to eat and each other so in many ways we're rich

Yes - this is why I always hate to complain about it! But, every now and then things like medical bills and $200/week summer camps get under my skin!

You don't have lymphoma. You have an obsession with your own bodily sensations which, frankly, has a far worse impact on your life and that of your family than lymphoma would.

Your posts make me feel awful because of the way I've hurt my loved ones in the past because I was too afraid to confront my own anxiety, and some of your gothic little fantasies are frankly just a bit creepy.
