scared my problems are from chronic pancreatitis

I have been having issues with my guts for a few years now. Back in 2015 I went through a very stressful time and started to develop pencil thin stools that would come and go along with some rectal bleeding. I have also suffered from acid reflux as well. I had an abdo Ultrasound, and everything came back fine except for a little fat on the liver, but I was not informed about the fatty liver by my doctor back then.



Fast forward to 2017, and I started to develop bloating, irregular bowel movements, some would float, some would sink, some would be very good, others would be thin, and not full (sorry TMI), but I had a colonoscopy and everything was clear. I went to a new doctor because we moved, and I went for an abdo ultrasound again, and the blood tests, and it came back that I had more fat on my liver, but my bloods were good for liver and pancreas, and pancreas was fine apparently so doctor told me the fatty liver was an incidental finding and that I should lose weight and cut back on alcohol.


I carried on for a few months with the same eating and drinking habits but then back in July I really started to focus on my health and have dropped 27 lbs and went from 210 down to 183 as of today so I am not worried about my liver anymore because you can reverse the fat, but I am scared of chronic pancreatitis because I have back pain a lot, and I also have middle to right side abdo pain.


Is it possible that I have chronic pancreatitis and the two sets of tests that I had which included blood work and ultra sounds have not picked that up? I have been scheduled for a gastro specialist but it is 8 months away and I am still having some of these niggling issues, and now I feel I have worked myself up to be ruminating on this.


I have been having irregular bowel movements again with some floating poop, but I can ingest fat and do not have diarrhea or anything like that so I am confused and my mind is going around in circles.


Can anyone help me out here?

I don't think that would be missed on the tests you've already had. Pain in those locations are more likely to be gallbladder related. If your ultrasounds and bloods have come back ok, I would think that's the next thing they would look into. Which is very common.

I've had the same symptoms as you for the past two years. All my scans and blood work and tests have come back normal. So I chalk it up to IBS.

I hope this helps. Worrying about health related stuff can be a nightmare.

Thanks Mom. Its tough not being able to talk to anyone. My wife just dismisses everything and says you're fine, its nothing etc, but it's tough when you feel pain everyday. i do sit a lot at work and have a tendency to slouch at my computers so I wonder if there is some correlation here?


I also feel like my right side rib cage at the bottom is inflamed, and I feel the pain in my back and ribs when I move so maybe its muscular skeletal?


I do get a kind of tingly burning feeling in my upper back and shoulders when I sit so it might be posture.


I also find that I get bloated and sore stomach if I don't eat, and once I eat it helps for a while.

It really could be muscular related. I do the same things have have identical pains in the same locations. I'm sorry you're going through a rough time. It is very hard when these things aren't validated. Can be extremely lonely.

Just know you aren't alone in your complaints. Just DO NOT GOOGLE. I've made a promise to myself to only look up symptoms on this website only. You can use the search feature at the top and look up your symptoms and read lots and lots of posts from people who have very similar complaints. It brings a lot of comfort.

I just worry about CP because I am 43 and would drink beers 3-4 day per week, and I think my total units per week were higher than the recommended totals. i have Googled and this is what has brought me to this state.


I was doing fine until a few weeks ago where I had drank a bunch of beers in a weekend due to special occasion, and it seemed to kick off another round of issues, but I haven't had a drink for approx 3 weeks, but I am still having some issues.


When I had my last doctors appointment the doctor was speaking into his dictation machine for my referral to a specialist and he said he suspected gastritis or gerd, and he also said to lay off alcohol until my appointment because it will flare it up, so maybe I should take some solace in the fact that if he didn't mention CP, and didn't expedite my referral that I should not worry either, but it's hard especially after what i read on Google.


Sorry for the long reply, but it feels good talking it through.

Hi, I have been a little better. The back has moved into the middle of my back and then last night I went out for dinner and it wasn’t that good so I got some milk of magnesia and a few hours later I had diarrhea and now it’s kicked off the whole CP thing again. To top it off, my wife lost her brother last night while we were at the hospital from cancer and I just feel like I’m in a dark place
