    Never ending cough

Every year my other half gets a cough that lasts for ages.
This year its lasted 8 weeks, so far.
He had a cold, then a cough. Just got over another cold and coughing all the time
LAST MARCH he had xray and Ct Scan absolutely fine.
    1) Worried about lung cancer
2)Worried that the CT Scan gave him cancer.
    3)He has never smoked.
    4)He never coughs at night.
Thanks for reading, but this stresses me out each year.

When you have a cold it dose damage to your lungs which will take some time to repair this is very normal! I had a cough for months after a bad cold once! He's had all these tests that turned out ok so nothing to worry about

10 months ago after 4 months(!!!) he had xray and CT SCAN, absolutely fine.

Your other half has been tested for lung cancer and doesn't have it. His coughing could be due to allergies or throat irritation. Some people even have a 'nervous' type cough.

I teach young children and one year I had a cough for 8 months, then it disappeared! Other teachers have suffered the same.

The worry you have is part of your HA, not his. I recognise this because I've worried about my partner too (not coughing though). You really do have to let this fear go as there's nothing you can do (about his cough) and will only make you sick and put strain on your relationship. I hope this helps

Because the tests were so long ago, doesn't that mean there's a danger of cancer now.

The CT scan was done last March. It would’ve picked up nodules as small as 2mm. Cancer takes years to grow big enough to cause symptoms. Also he gets a cough every year. Cancer is not on the cards. Really.

Ah thanks, I didn't know that, makes me feel better.
Although I also worry about throat cancer, but as they both started with what appeared to be a cold, I'm assuming not?

Throat cancer is my fear at the moment. I'm convinced I've got it

Oh no! I’ve had that worry before! Why do you think you’ve got throat cancer?

Okay, first off...it is not cancer. Also, a CT scan does not emit enough radiation to cause cancer...and even if it did, it would take an average of 10 years for mutuations to occur. What your significant other has is a subtype of chronic bronchitis. I have this as well (actually, most people I know get this). I define it as a persistent nagging cough looooooooong after the initial virus. I once had a persistent cough for like... 4 weeks...true story.

I remember a radiographer commenting that a mammogram gave out less radiation than you'd get from a flight, so that really puts it into perspective
