I’ve hard a firm, non painful lump under my left ear towards my jaw for 6 months. It’s about the size of a grape and is superficial (ie. can’t be seen but only noticeable when touched). It has not Grown as far as I know. When I first noticed it, I had no symptoms. Nonetheless I saw two different GP’s who told me not to worry, they said it was probably
nothing - even when my flu symptoms started to come on. They administered antibiotics but the lump remained the same size.
Since then, I have been sick multiple times over the past 6 months. I had a bad flu and cough for 1 month which left me extremely fatigued. It eventually subsided and I figured all was fine.
However, since then I have had a reoccurring sore throat. It was particularly bad for the past two weeks which prompted me to revisit a third GP. It was extremely dry. He took full blood tests and referred me to an ENT about the lump. He said the flu symptoms may be a red herring but best to get it checked out.
Since the doctor referred me, I have been having horrible health anxiety and full on panic attacks. Now, my sore throat has subsided and of course, I feel like I’m getting sick again with body aches and fatigue!! I’m so scared it’s cancer or something.
My blood tests (including for mono) all came out clear which makes me worry why I have been sick and have this lump if it’s not related to a bacterial infection. I’m so scared. I am only 24 and have a healthy lifestyle otherwise. But the anticipation of seeing the ENT is destroying me. Has anyone else ever had a hard neck lump and constantly gotten sick and it NOT been something like cancer???? :(
