Fear of having a heart attack, heart disease and dying.

Severe Cardiophobia! Does anyone else have this fear? Can you describe your symptoms? How long have you been dealing with this? Are you on any meds for it?

I have been suffering for about 14 months. Started with an unexplained collapse, bizarrely at a meeting with some very eminent cardiologists. Rushed to hospital. All the tests, found nothing, but my symptoms suggested atrio-ventricular block. More panic attacks and referral about every 10 days with symptoms of heart attack. Again lots of tests but no symptoms. Diagnosed with anxiety. Some previous history of anxiety but over 15 years ago at a very stressful period in my life. Diagnosed with costochondritis. Started CBT and psychotherapy. Still subject to panic attacks a few times a week but I think I'm getting to a point where I can believe i'm getting control of my anxiety. Was offered anti anxiety meds but was recommended to try talking therapies first.

Worse thing is I can't identify the triggers for the panic attacks, Does the chest pain from costochondritis trigger the panic attacks or do the panic attacks start from thoughts I am not controlling and then trigger the feelings of chest pain.
