My Anxiety and My Period Are Best Friends

Every month about 3-5 days before my period, my anxiety starts acting up. It hangs around through the whole thing and then will linger for a day or two after. Then I'll have a couple of good weeks, with the occasional flare up, be mostly productive and happy, and then back comes the anxiety and the period. Does anybody else have this? Is it normal? I'm also curious if birth control affects this at all, helping or making it worse? I just started a new one and so far it's making me pretty miserable.

Yep happens me too I think it’s the build up of hormones mixed with your existing anxiety and together they form to make a shit show 😂😂 I never put two and two together but I’m definitely more anxious just before/during my period too. Makes sense.

Same here.
Was on the depo shot for years and since I came off it , my anxiety rocketed. Been like it 3 years now , every month just before my period or around ovulation (sometimes both) anxiety comes along.
I know a lot of people experience this so it’s very common.
Helps me sometimes to realise a new symptom I get is all hormone / anxiety related and that helps me deal with health anxiety

Hormones are awful, aren't they? Nature's little way of sending all your normal coping strategies out the window.

I agree. I’m only 29 but convinced I’m peri menopause lol

i always get anxiety attacks a week before my period. i cry a lot for no reason
