    Citalopram

I'm on day 6 of taking citalopram. I'm on 10mg. I've also been given iron tablets for anemia.
I've read the side effect leaflet for Cit but my health anxiety is convincing me it's something else. I can't sleep yet I'm so tired. And when I do try and fall asleep I get body jerks. Does that happen to anyone else?. I feel like I'm 'spaced out' too. Hard to describe but like I'm not really here. And no motivation or desire to do anything. How long do these side effects take to subside?. Or do they not subside?. Sleep used to be my only escape from feeling so bad and now I can't even do that.

Question: what time of day are you taking them?

So far I've been taking them at night. Just because I'm so used to being mentally and physically exhausted by bedtime I didn't think it would effect me
I'm going to change it to a morning but it's the concern over the jerks etc that bother me. I know I have to persevere but wow I feel crappy

    Re: Citalopram

I was worried about sleep disturbances, so I took it in the morning from the outset. I'm definitely sleeping more than I did, but I think that's the result of anxiety-induced sleep deprivation.

Not sure what to advise you; I'm starting to realise what an easy ride I've had with the stuff.

I will definitely change from night to morning and see if that changes my sleeping pattern. I'm literally functioning on 3-4 hours sleep and that is broken. So frustrating.

''yes'' this is to be expected with ssris tbh. Take your dose in the morning and continue with this and see how you get on. It could potentially be 6 weeks before you feel better, althoigh most feel a benefit much sooner.

Either ask your doctor for melatonin 2mg to take at bed or temazepam 10mg at night, if he's happy to go the benzo route

    All the best

    Hi newyork girl
I'm on day 8 of citalopram 10mg. I take mine at 7pm. Since taking them I'm not sure of I've had side effects, I think it's just my anxiety condition is bad at the moment hence why I went on them. I'm feeling pretty awful with health anxiety, and I'm really struggling at work with anxiety, panic attacks and keep getting tearful. I had trouble sleeping first couple of nights on the citalopram but back to normal now. I'm going to wait another week and increase to 20mg.
