The media when they incessantly hype up certain issues and often cry wolf at the same time, which then often has a tendency to devalue genuine 'crises' later on.

The way people are often cynical about things, e.g, if official figures reveal something is improving (such as crime or unemployment falling), many people seem to refuse point blank to believe it. And this is seemingly regardless of which PM/political party is in power. In fact, IPSOS did a feature about this about 10 years ago, titled 'The Perils Of Perception', which revealed that the opinions of much of the British public were/are very much at odds with reality a lot of the time.

Carnation I hope so I live in California and we have had more rain then we have ever had, normally each year we get 22 inches, this year it seems like it's almost every two days we get rain, and a lot of it, we have flooding in part of our state and mudslides.
