Once upon a time fish and chips were a cheap and easy meal for a family.
These days a single piece of fish costs more than a feed for the entire family once did.

The other night, we had two lots of sausage and chips, mushy peas, gravy, and just a small portion of chips for me. It cost £15!!

My Batty is partial to nice piece of cod (they do them the size of a whale at our plaice) but that costs a fortune so Batty Boy can make do with a sausage for the foreseeable!

You're right. As well as chips (of course), fish and chip shops also sell foods other than fish (e.g, sausages, kebabs, pies, chickens, and sometimes even burgers). My own personal choice is usually a non-fish dish.

A bit like pubs sell drinks other than booze.

It's invariably just chips for me. (Smothered in ketchup)

Pushing things out of the claypit are traumatic enough when you've been on the codeine for few days...

My husband went through a phase last year when he was convinced his medical problems were all down to gut/bowel bacteria, he was convinced he needed a feacal transplant. Had I been in a better place I would have offered myself as a doner, he could have had it fresh.

If I was in need of a faecal transplant (I never will be, ever) all my other half has to do is throw his undies at me. (Skidders, anyone?)

All I can say is that actual guinea pigs (not the human variety) have been indulging in this practice for centuries..

If one of my pigs gets gut stasis the best cure is a mush of droppings from my other cavy administered via syringe into the mouth of the afflicted one..

    Faecal transplant my arse..
